I have seen the birds when they fly

Gracefully above high in the sky
I have seen the pain in tearful eyes
Gazed upon heaven asking why
I have cried when my loved ones died
Rejoicing for the gift of their lives

I long for the day when we all reside

From a friend that was in need

Giving in because I was weak

When I lacked faith to believe

Bringing joy to our lives

A Smiling Face

They're tearing down the neighborhood

And saying that it's for our own good
Those massive buildings of a bygone day
Wood, steel and countless bricks of clay

Those many towers of spiral chimneys

That ushered the black smoke high in sky
These are relics of the many industries
That paved the way to fruits of modern life

Concrete footings, and stone foundations

Wooden girders; steel formed in this Nation
Coal fired furnaces supplying the power
Dinosaurs of an era leading to this hour

On the face they look dirty, cold and old

There was a day they were shiny and new
Behind every brick, piece of wood or steel
Is a face that smiles down on me and you

Love so Wise

 

Is it wise to hope for miracles

Lay it all on the line for truth

Seek out answers to questions

Surrender heart and soul to you

Is it wise to fight for freedom

Keep longing for brighter days

Though it feels we are loosing

God answers a soul that prays

Father, Creator and Lover of life

So wonderful, powerful, so wise

Father, the heartbeat of our lives

So magnificent, powerful, so wise

Is it wise to grasp on to holiness

While righteousness slips away

Try to fill the void of emptiness

So deep and deeper every day

Is it wise for us to forge ahead

To transform the world anew

Give all that we have to give

Share the love received from you

We've lost all sense of truth
It's time to reclaim our faith

Innocent blood being shed
We must stop the bleeding
Voices cry out to repent
The fruit of mercy is healing
