Love Rwanda - A Child's Inner-vision

A reflection on my daughter's recent trip to Rwanda. She and her peers from College went on a journey of a lifetime. They journeyed to an orphanage to teach and work with the children there; they themselves experienced much more. The children opened their eyes to life; the true meaning of love, simplicity, in the midst of poverty a great need. God Bless the children of Rwanda!

She is a loving young soul

It started with a whisper

This quiet yearning within

From paradise to poverty

Overabundance to misery

Landfills of sculls and bones

This land they call home

Sincerity - yet so poor and alone

Rwanda - the land they call home

Painful memories opened eyes

Of inhumanity and genocide

Hundreds of thousands died

Now they walk side by side

Absent of wealth - without greed

Loving children smiling tenderly

Their tiny hands and giant hearts

Beaming eyes extending lovingly

Without "Jesus"

Incessant longing - pain is in your eyes

Places to places - run but you can't hide

Redemption - is waiting out there for you

It's a new day - it's time to make a move

Without Jesus, there's no joy in our lives

Without Jesus, our salvation's on the line

Without Jesus, life has no clear direction

We wander without peace, without "Jesus"

Trapped - in a world that's lost its way

Struggling - to make it through the day

Weary - from all the pressures of today

Without Jesus, there is no melody to sing

Without Jesus, there is no praise or rejoicing

We spend our lives wandering - without "Jesus"

They "Live"-They"Love"-They"Forgive"

I saw them, and they, were many
Their little hands, their little feet
Once they were, but, are no more
Yet, in the fullness of time will be

Many are they, countless in number
Seeing not light of day, only, "Light"
Passed into glory, in glory they dwell
"Love" calls each one of them by name

But, I did not see their faces

The "Light of Life" shines upon them
They live, they love, they forgive
We shall see them all face to face
As the "Light of Life" shines upon us

The True Meaning of "Christmas"

I remember - Silent Night - Jingle Bells
The glistening lights - singing carols
And dreaming of a White Christmas

Stringing up cards across the walls
Holly and red ribbons decking the halls
The peaceful feeling of Christmas

I remember - the greatest story ever told
The Babe wrapped in swaddling clothes
As the stars of heaven stood guard by

"Jesus" laying there, the earth was still
Mary and Joseph - the scriptures fulfilled
Angels praising and adoring his holy name

The Babe, the Lamb, Son of the great "I Am"
"LOVE" - opening the gates to eternal bliss
I remember - the true meaning of "Christmas"
